Wood thermal insulation project for the facade of the new tourism office of Figueres (Girona), using wood from forests managed sustainably and certified by the Forest stewardship council (FSC)
Fusteria Cano always uses high quality material, carefully selected based on environmental and sustainability criteria. The whole process takes into account not only the purchase of the new material but also the recycling of the material being replaced.
Furthermore, the project will substantially increase the energy efficiency of the building thanks to its thermal insulation properties. 

POSITIVE IMPACT

Renovation of the facades of various buildings, using ecological wood obtained from sustainably managed forests. Wood is a natural, healthy, renewable and recyclable material, highly recommended for use in construction projects.

TECHNOLOGY

The ventilated façade has a chimney effect that causes air to flow along the chamber, helping to prevent heat buildup and removing moisture from rain or condensation.

The wood lining blocks direct sunlight and provides continuous insulation, improving the overall energy management of the building. The residents and other users of the building will not only have a space requiring little maintenance, but, in addition, the comfort conditions and the low level of humidity of the  building will positively contribute to improved indoor environmental quality.

Wood is a natural, healthy, renewable and recyclable material, highly recommended for use in construction projects.

It has very good technical and biological characteristics; It’s particularly interesting for its capacity to regulate the hygrothermal characteristics of the interior of the building through its “living” structure composed of hollow parallel microchannels capable of absorbing and evaporating the water in the atmosphere. 

The Forest Stewardship Council, best known under the symbol FSC, is an international non-profit organisation established to promote responsible management of the world’s forests, through accreditation and certification.

The mission of Forest Stewardship Council is to “promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests.” Individuals or organisations interested in the sustainable consumption of wood, paper or other forestal products can ask to be FSC certified. FSC certification ensures that products come from well managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
